Government Shortlists Two Sites for Ex-PM Manmohan Singh’s Memorial: Ekta Sthal or Vijay Ghat
The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry officials have identified potential sites on the Rashtriya Smriti Sthal campus for the memorial of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The two shortlisted locations are Ekta Sthal and Vijay Ghat, both situated near the Rashtriya Smriti Sthal along the Yamuna river.
Visits and Discussions
A team of top officials visited the Rashtriya Smriti Sthal campus to assess the proposed memorial sites for Dr. Manmohan Singh. However, a final decision on the location is yet to be made. The government is actively engaging in discussions with Singh’s family to finalize the site for the memorial.
Central Public Works Department (CPWD) officials have also visited the area around the Rashtriya Smriti Sthal and identified potential spots for the memorial. The government is in constant communication with the former prime minister’s family and has presented multiple options for the memorial’s location.

The Centre has expressed its willingness to establish a trust before allocating the chosen land for the memorial. This initiative comes in response to the Congress’s request for a memorial honoring Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away at the age of 92 on December 26.
