Woah, so like, the bigwigs from China and the EU had this virtual meeting to talk about climate stuff. But guess what? The US, with President Biden at the helm, missed out on the fun. They’re too busy with tariffs and stuff. Trump’s old gig meant they started ghosting the Paris Agreement, making everyone sweat about global warming. And while all this drama is going down, China’s President Xi is all like, “We’re gonna keep fighting climate change, no matter what.” Not sure if anyone really cares, but apparently, Xi thinks a unnamed country is being a real pain with all its selfish solo acts. Not cool, dude. But you know what’s even worse? The world is totally slacking on emissions cuts and green tech, so we’re heading towards a toasty 2.6C global warming party by the end of the century. And just a heads up, only 19 out of 195 countries have updated their emissions plans. The UK, Canada, Japan, Brazil, UAE, and the US (under Biden) are on it, but the EU and China are MIA. Xi promises China will spill the beans on their targets before the next COP30 in Brazil. This whole climate change saga is going down in Belem, where they’re aiming to throw $1.3 trillion a year at developing countries by 2035. So, yeah, things are heating up, but let’s see if the world can actually step up to the challenge. Cheers to that!
